Grades Two through Four
Elementary Cluster children engage in a yearlong series of activities geared to pique their curiosity and develop their understanding of the current topic. Explorations include informational DVD introductions, opportunities for dramatic expression, dance, feast making, arts and crafts, and lively discussion, all led by a professional teacher, Alexis Marvel. Alexis is supported each week by a professional Special Needs Aide, Cristin Craig. Elementary Cluster children spend the first few weeks of class playing fun community building games and getting to know each other in a relaxed, fun-filled setting. The focus for 2011-2012 is Unitarian Universalism. Over the course of the year, we’ll explore the fundamentals of our faith through age appropriate activities and discussion. We love dramatic play, arts and crafts, playing games with meaningful themes, cooking, and just plain being silly with Alexis, who has a wonderfully unique background leading children's activities around the world. As in the Primary Cluster, class begins each week with a worship circle where the focus of the week is introduced and a story is shared that brings alive the the people, history, beliefs, and principles of Unitarian Universalism. The rest of the class time is spent in activity related to the theme, as noted above. Parents pick up Elementary Cluster children at noon. |
