Suzanne Jubenville
Music Director
Suzanne Jubenville has enjoyed a varied musical career as a professional
singer and choral director. Suzanne has performed and recorded with
Kronos Quartet, Theatre of Voices, American Bach Soloists, Philharmonia
Baroque Orchestra, Magnificat, Sogni d'Oro and Bimbetta, among others.
Suzanne has served as Artistic Director of the California Bach Society,
and has directed the music programs at All Saints' Anglo-Catholic
Episcopal Church in San Francisco, California, St. Matthew's Episcopal
Church of San Mateo, California, First Baptist Church of San Anselmo,
California, and First American Baptist Church of Fontana, California.
Suzanne also directed the High Holy Days Choir under Cantor David
Margules at Temple Rodef Sholom in San Rafael, Calfiornia, for eight
years, and currently sings in the High Holy Days Professional Choir at
Temple Beth-El in Providence, Rhode Island under Cantor Judy Seplowin.
Suzanne has been Alto Section Leader and Soloist for the choirs of St.
Stephen's Church in Belvedere, California, and St. Luke's Church in San
Francisco, California. Suzanne earned a Master of Arts degree in choral
conducting from The Claremont Graduate University, where her studies
emphasized early performance practice, and where she served as conductor
of the graduate school's Collegium Musicum. She directed the choral
program at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, California, and has
served on the music faculties of Dominican University, the College of
Marin, and the San Francisco Early Music Society Medieval and
Renaissance Summer Workshop. Suzanne holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from
the University of California at Davis, where she served as Teaching
Assistant to Paul Hillier and Jeffrey Thomas. She is also a published
writer (short stories, essays, poetry, and flash literature), and enjoys
teaching choral students of all ages.
